At Dentistry on Green Lane in Thornhill, our dentists use dental crowns to help restore your teeth to their original shape.
What is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is used to restore teeth to their original size and shape. It's used as a covering that encases the affected tooth. It will help protect and strengthen the structure of your tooth.
We use porcelain dental crowns in order to match them to the shape, size and colour of your teeth. Porcelain crowns are highly durable and will last many years, but like most dental restorations, they may eventually need to be replaced.
Dental Crowns in Thornhill: Why might I need one?
- Large filling: Fillings that have broken down or have formed decay around them may need a crown.
- Sensitivity or wear: Teeth that are very sensitive, either from a lot of 'wear', or from receded gums, can require a crown to seal and protect the teeth from hot and cold.
- Weak or broken teeth: A crown will hold the tooth together and prevent it from breaking again. If the fracture is too deep, root canal therapy may be required before a crown is placed.
- After a root canal: A tooth that has undergone root canal therapy will need a crown to properly seal and protect the tooth.
